With 2013 officially in the books, the GetMyBoat team can call out a resounding “Yes!” if asked whether the past 12 months were a success. Exponential growth in its user count and number of boats listed, significant product updates, and a feature on Fox Business News – these are just a few of the events that marked GMB’s past year. Add to that a growing staff of skilled professionals and earning the title of worldwide leader in the peer-to-peer boat rentals charters space, GetMyBoat can pat themselves on the back for a job well done in 2013. How’s that for achieving a New Year’s resolution?
A Year of Milestones
GetMyBoat had a milestone year, realizing growth numbers that would make any business salivate like Pavlolv’s dog. In January 2013, 1,500 boats were listed on the site. But thanks to some successful marketing and an intuitive platform to match, GMB saw those numbers climb to over 11,500 boats listed by December 2013 after achieving a steady growth rate of 200 boats per week.
Here are some other key figures reached by the end of 2013.
- Available in 80 countries, 1,000 cities, and 49 U.S. states
- Total reservations of $1,000,000
- Currency conversion in eight currencies
What makes these figures so impressive? GetMyBoat recently celebrated its first birthday. Despite being new on the startup scene, the company is turning heads with its ever-increasing user count. As comparison, sharing economy champion Airbnb had 4,000 listings in its first year.
Enhancement are continuously being made to both the Android and Apple apps with the help of cloud and mobile development solutions provider NapkinBetaBeyond. Most recently, GetMyBoat decked out its platform with map clustering, the ability for users to update their account in-app, and currency conversion in 8 currencies. Other added features include a dashboard, user reviews, a resource center for boating tips and advice, and a counter-offer option for boat owners.
The business and startup world has been sharing GetMyBoat’s story over the past few months. Last month, Yahoo Finance featured GetMyBoat and its recent claiming of the title as the worldwide leader in the peer-to-peer watercraft rental space. As well, Fox Business News interviewed with GMB CEO Sascha Mornell, where Mornell discussed how GMB works and the success the company has had. Check it out:
GetMyBoat has also been frequenting startup events including the PARISOMA Meetup in San Francisco where the GMB folks mingled with other up-and-comers in the startup and collaborative consumption space.
We here at NapkinBetaBeyond can’t wait to see what 2014 holds for GetMyBoat. As a proud partner of this impressive startup, we’re anticipating another remarkable year for GMB, especially with the release of some exciting mobile enhancements and an overhaul to its homepage. Cheers to GMB!
